Funeral for Carrel Jeffrey Barnes, 81, of Ozark, who died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, in Ozark, was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with Rev. Kendall Ross and Rev. Steve Sawrie officiating.
Burial was in Woodland Cemetery north of Clarksville.
Active pallbearers were Allan Ellison, Shayne Ellison, Aaron Ellison, Jeffrey Ellison, David Ellison, and Brent Carper.
Honorary pallbearers were Michael Vickery, Kip Smith and Shane Baker.
He was a native of Fayette, Ala., son of the late Carrel C. and Sadie Dunn Barnes, former resident of Springdale, feed mill supervisor with Swift Company and Tyson Foods for 30-plus years, member of Ozark Free Will Baptist Church, United States Army veteran having served during the Korean conflict, and was preceded in death by his wife, Agatha Morsani Barnes.
He is survived by two daughters, Gwin Ellison of Ozark and Carrol Robertson of Austin; two stepdaughters, Earline Lewis of Owasso, Okla., and Ondella Baker of Waynesboro, Miss.; two stepsons, Cleve Rogers of Plano, Texas, and George Smith of Baker, Fla.; one sister, Faye Vickery of Paris; two brothers, Otis Barnes of Arlington, Tenn., and Stanley Barnes of Newport Richie, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
