At his home in Baker City. Mr. Hardman was a lifelong resident of the Baker and Burnt River valleys. He grew up in Union on his parent's ranch and later moved to the Muddy Creek area where he graduated from high school in 1939.

In 1940, he joined the U.S. Air Force; served in Alaska, and flew missions during the Aleutian Campaign. He was a former ranch hand and owner and operator of Hardman Distributing in Baker City, and later a lineman for Pacific Northwest Bell.

Always active with the 4-H youth activities, church and school activities with his children, he was also a lifelong member of the Baker Elk's Lodge, No. 338 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). He was also one of the original firemen of the first Baker Rural Fire District, Pine Creek Station, and member of the Methodist churches in Haines and Baker City.

He is survived by is wife of 59 years, Betty Marie {Emele} Hardman, whom he married on March 18, 1943; son, W. David (Paula) Hardman, Lynden, WA; daughter, Roxy G. Hardman (Don) Ulrey, Baker City; grandchildren, Jennifer, Benjamin, Bradley, Jake, Justin, & Julee; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Kavika, Tanner, Megan, & Mckennah; sister, Catherine Howell; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver Monroe Hardman & Elsie {Tureman} Hardman; brother, Ernest Hardman; sisters, Louise, Ruby, & Marjorie.

Graveside services, with military rites, were conducted by the Baker City Veterans of Foreign Wars. Arrangements by Gravy's West & Company, Baker City, OR.
