John "Jack" Buck
Birth: Aug. 21, 1924
Death: Jun. 18, 2002

Hall of Fame Major League Baseball Sportscaster. Announced for the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team for almost 50 years. After serving with the U.S. Army during World War II, he enrolled at Ohio State University, beginning his broadcasting career at their radio station. In 1954 he started his career with the Cardinals, being partnered with Harry Caray for many years. In addition to Cardinals games, he also announced Super Bowl games, World Series games and nationally televised professional bowling events. He was elected the Baseball Hall of Fame's broadcasters' wing, the Broadcaster's Hall of Fame, and the Radio Hall of Fame. He received a lifetime achievement Emmy, and the Pete Rozelle Award by the Pro Football Hall of Fame. (bio by: Connie Nisinger)

We sure do miss this great person. I use to listen to all of the ballgames when I had time too and he had a great voice! I remember when would do the play by play when the Cardinals were in the World Series and the one where Ozzie Smith had hit that hom...(Read more)
