Mrs. Mabel Kitt. 74, died in the Huntington County Hospital at 10:55 p.m. Friday, where she had been taken earlier in the day. She was a resident of Andrews for 43 years and had been a lifelong resident of the community. She had been ill three years.
She was born April 14, 1896, in Lagro Township, to John L. and Amelia Spath Schenkel. She married Esser Kitt Sept. 3. 1927, in Huntington.
Surviving are the husband; a daughter, Mrs. Gordon (Alice) Schaefer of Andrews; two sons, Jay of Andrews and Edgar of Columbia City; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mada Yentes of Andrews, and Mrs. Mildred Selle of Huntington County. Three brothers and two sisters are deceased.
She was a member of the Andrews United Methodist Church and a past president of the WSCS of the church.
The body is at the Deal Funeral home where friends may call and where services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday with Rev. Norman Nightingale officiating. Burial will be in the Reformed Cemetery in Huntington.
Preferred memorials are to the Andrews United Methodist Church memorial fund and the Huntington County Heart Association.
