Bob was born in Paoli, Orange County, Indiana, to John Elijah Pickett and Mariah Jane Lindley. His brothers and sister are Ernest, Arvil (Grace Whetstone) and Lillie Ann (James C. Berry). He later moved to Bates County in Missouri. He married Martha (Mattie) Amelia McKissick on 22 Feb 1891 in Butler, Bates County. He moved with his family to Colorado in 1904, farming near Greeley for a time and later going to Fort Morgan. He moved later to Greeley that March. Born to Bob and Mattie are Ernest Earl, Mary Blanche (Verl R. Houston), Sylvia Jane (Rolland W. "Abbie" Abbott), John Turner, George Elijah, Clara Leona (Guy Ferman), and Alva Marie (Thurman O. White).
Mr. Pickett was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.
Funeral services were held Saturday (23 Dec 1939) afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at Macy's drawing room, with interment in Linn Grove (Cemetery, Greeley, Colorado).
