GILMER - Services for Sam Houston Preston Jr. were 11 a.m. Thursday, February 3, 2011, at Heritage Funeral Home in Harker Heights, with Chaplain Alvin Ray Bennett officiating.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 5, 2011, at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer. Arrangements are by Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
Mr. Preston died Friday, January 28, 2011.
Born October 14, 1925, in Athens, he retired from the U.S. Army after more than 27 years.
He then worked for Greyhound Foods for 13 years.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Cregler Preston; sisters, Eunice Miller and Ella Jewel Hooper; brothers, Robert, G.D. and Johnny Preston; and children, Richard Bell, George Noble, Joe Bazile and Glen Snell.
Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. today, February 4, 2011, at the funeral home.
