Hubert L. Ownby, 83, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday, April 9, 1999, at his home. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. He was a member of Goodwill Baptist Church.
He was the son of the late Dave and Roselee Ownby and was preceded in death by three brothers: Leslie Ownby, Early Ownby and Lilliand Ownby; and one sister: Lovenia Ledford.
Survivors include his wife: Dorothy Ownby; two sons and daughters-in-law: Randy and Rhonda Ownby and Steve and Tricia Ownby; one daughter and son-in-law: Gloria and Ray Forgey, all of Cleveland; grandchildren: Jill Middlebrooks, Amanda Ownby, Tyler Forgey, Nicholas Forgey, Caressa Ensley and Charity Ensley; great-grandchildren: Austin Middlebrooks, Christina Middlebrooks, Chasity Middlebrooks and Jacob Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Wallace Varnell officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Mitchell Duggan, Larry Duggan, Charles Beck Jr., Perry McCallister, Andrew Frazier and Jim Laub serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
