Birth: 1795
New York, USA
Death: 1873
Connecticut, USA

Orrin Clark was born in New York on 1 SEPT 1795. His parents were Charles and Lovina Clark. Charles' parents were Capt Benjamin and Susannah (Babcock) Clark from Stonington, CT. They were pious Baptist. He had a brother Lorin born 29 DEC 1797 and another brother, Horace born in 1800. Lorin became a well respected Methodist Episcopal minister. The following quote from his diary describes something that happened, with Orrin, which was influential in shaping Lorin's subsequent course in life. The quote is as follows: "I was awakened in a rather a singular manner. Theron Osborn, my brother Orrin and myself, after we had attended church, stole away, and went on a fishing excursion in a small boat. While we were making ready Osborn looked up to me with a solemn, expressive look and said, "What if the boat should upset and we all be drown?" "What would become of us?" Lorin died in 1868 in Westchester Co. New York. Orrin married Caroline Hawley who was born about 1801 in New York. They had at least 3 children: Milton Holley 21 JAN 1822 died at 4 years of age, Julie Ann 13 NOV 1826 died in infancy and Lorin Horace 1834. Orrin was a farmer of some wealth. His father died in 1834. According to the 1850 census Orrin and Caroline lived in the town of Amenia in Dutchess Co. NY. His mother, Lovina, and his brother Horace and Mercy Clark lived down the road on a large farm. Amenia is in east New York state on the border of Connecticut. In 1870 Orrin and Caroline were living and farming in the Town of Sharon, CT. Orrin died on 21 SEPT 1873 and Caroline on 10 APR 1873.
