Yes, his name came from a paint can at the hardware store on the square in Hamilton, supposedly the work of his big brother, Theodore Agee. His parents were Marion Lee Agee and Selma Eliza Burris. He married Mildred Johnson Jones on 1 March 1941 in Pascagoola, Mississippi, when he was working in the ship yards at Mobile, Alabama. Their first daughter was born in Mobile in 1943. After a few months, they moved back to Texas, where their other four children were born.
