Hazel Colclasure, 81, of Burnt Prairie, died at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011 in the emergency room at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.

She wrote the Burnt Prairie News for The Carmi Times, the Navigator and the Wayne County Press. She was formerly a bus driver for Crawford Bus Service in Lockport.

Surviving are four daughters, Cheryl Head of Mt. Vernon, Ill., Debbie Robb of Essex, Angie Anselmo of Millbrook and Kim Hill of Springfield; two sons, Ed Colclasure Jr. of Meadowlands, Minn. and Bob Colclasure of Romeoville (apparently this was an error, her son Bob is believed to have predeceased her, see below),; 14 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ethel Weyer of Orrville, Okla (again, see below, should have read Orrville, Ohio, not Oklahoma).

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26 at Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield. Burial will be in Burnt Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25 at the funeral home.
