Wm. Havemann Laid To Rest At Riverside.
The funeral services of the late Wm Havemann were held Thursday afternoon at the German Odd Fellows Hall. Rev Wm. Zickerick conducted the ceremonies and the Washington Street Church choir rendered the music. The Druids, Sons of Hermann and Sisters of Esther lodge followed the remains to the cemetery in a body, where the final services of the Druids and sons of Hermann were conducted by Conrad Schurl, Charles Wilke, Charles Froehlich and Nick Suercy, representing Aurora Grove, No. 12, of Fond du Lac, attending the funeral. The following acted as pall bearers; From the Druids, W. P. Schmidt, Charles Jeschke, Jacob Rhyner; from the Sons of Hermann, C. Look, F.C. Arnold, Jacob Wenzel. There were many beautiful floral tributes and many friends attended the funeral.
Wm Havemann was born in Longwader Melde, Oldenburg, Germany in 1841 and immigrated to America in 1868 settling immediately in Oshkosh, where he has since resided, following the occupation of carriage painter until 1880 when he embarked in the restaurant business which he conducted until his death. Mr. Havemann was a very active member of the Druids and held the office of secretary of Columbus Grove. No 6 of Oshkosh for a number of years. He also held the position of Grand Noble Arch of the Druids of the state of Wisconsin, and was also an active member of the Sons of Hermann, holding various trustworthy positions in that order. A wife and four brothers, John Havemann and Dietrich Havemann residing in Oshkosh, Henry Havemann and William Havemann residing in Germany are left to mourn his death.
