Sarah Katherine Pippenger, was born in Piatt county, Illinois, November 1866 and departed this life, May 24th, 1939, at her home in Golden City, Mo. Mrs. Kirby had been in ill health for a period of several years but was not confined to her room or bed until the 20th of last December, when she suffered a stroke, which hastened her death. Since that date she had been gradually growing weaker.
When a small child in 1872, she with her parents, left Piatt county, coming and settling in Dade county, Missouri, in the New Bethel community. While she made many true and lasting friends.
In 1884, July 10th, she was united in marriage to William T. Kirby, who preceded her in death several years. To this union two children were born, one daughter Rosa, who passed away Sept. 1st, 1935 and one son, John, who passed away June 20th, 1933.
She leaves to mourn her departure four grandchildren; Frank Bennett, of this city, Roy Hurrell, of Blackfoot, Idaho, Mrs. Leota Duncan of this city and Jack Kirby, of California. She also leaves two brothers, John Pippenger of Kansas City and Dan Pippenger, of Blue Mound, Kansas.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 26th, at 2:30 p.m., from the Phillips Funeral Home, followed by burial in the Pippenger cemetery northeast of Golden City.
