James was married and later divorced to Joyce Lavon Hartley. From this union they had one child, Lorraine DeAun Reeves, born June 15, 1922, in Coffeyville, Montgomery County, Kansas.
James had wonder lust. He loved traveling across the country by rail, never wanting to stay in one place too long. He loved his family and his cat.
James was preceded in death by his former wife Joyce Lavon Hartley, his parents Charles Henderson "Charley" Reeves and Hannah Marie (Watson) Reeves, brothers William Jasper Reeves, George Wesley Reeves, sisters Nellie Reeves, Henry Harrison Reeves, Olive M. "Ollie" (Reeves) Young, and Ruth Martha "Tots" (Reeves) Braiser.
He is survived by his daughter Lorraine DeAun (Reeves) Wade of Yakima, Washington, three Granddaughters, DeAun (Wade) Niles and husband Donald of Yakima, Marcie (Wade) Eidsmoe and husband Ralph of Seattle, Sharon Wade, of Yakima, and five Great-Grandchildren, Donald, Jr., Shellie, and Lana Niles, of Yakima, and Michael and Markeeta Eidsmoe, of Seattle, Washington. He is also survived by his sisters Daisy (Reeves) Bell and husband Joseph, Esther (Reeves) Latcham, brothers Walter Allen Reeves, Sr. and wife Emily, and Ted Reynolds "Teddy" Reeves and wife Vera, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
