Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey with Father Tom Bauwens officiating. Burial will in the St. Francis Cemetery in Humphrey.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m., with a 3 p.m. rosary, and a 7 p.m. scripture service on Wednesday, at the church. Visitation continues Thursday, from 9-10 a.m.
Leonard was born to Joseph P. Fuchs and Cecelia V. Wieser on Dec. 2, 1925, in Humphrey.
He graduated from St. Francis High School and on Aug. 31, 1948, he married Bernadine M. Wemhoff at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Humphrey. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Forresters, Holy Name Society and served on the St. Francis Booster Club board and was a member of the St. Francis Men's Choir for over 50 years. He was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church.
Leonard was a lifetime resident of the Humphrey community. He farmed and was employed at D&L Corp., Zach Mfg., Boesch Motors, and several John Deere Implement Companies. He was a former member of the NFO and past member of the Humphrey Public School Board and served on the Humphrey Rural Fire District Board.
He enjoyed bowling, played baseball on the Humphrey Baseball Teams and was a member of the St. Francis State Basketball Championship Team of 1943, and an avid fan of his grandchildren's sports activities.
He is survived by his wife, Bernie, of Humphrey; children, Sally (Richard) Classen, of Humphrey, Rita (Gerald) Kuhn, of Norfolk, Eugene (Connie) Fuchs, of Omaha, Ray (Nancy) Fuchs, of Lincoln, Marie (Alan) Rundell, of Blackhawk, S.D., Robert (Lisa) Fuchs, of Omaha, and Joseph (Paula) Fuchs, of Pierce; 24 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters, Eileen (Onie) Wessel, of Humphrey, Viola Wemhoff, of Humphrey, Celie (Cyril) Pinger, of Lindsay, Joan (Gene) Shamberg, of Texas, Clara Fuchs, of Hebron, and Mardy Pfeifer, of LaVista.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James, Father Loran, OFM, and Victor; sister, Betty Fuchs; and grandson, Gregory Kuhn.
