Papillion, NE, passed away January 30, 2011 at Hillcrest Country Estates. Luella was born November 25, 1913 at Omaha, NE to Clarence and Lucy Simpson. Luella was raised by her grandparents in Blair, NE after her mother died in the flu epidemic of 1918. She graduated from Blair High School and Dana College, Blair, NE with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She taught at Thone and Long Creek Country Schools in Washington County, NE; Walnut Hill and Fontenelle Elementary Schools in Omaha. She married Warren E. George, November 10, 1934, in Red Oak, Iowa. After 69 years of marriage Warren died on July 13, 2003. Luella and Warren had one daughter, Shirlee Nance. Preceded in death by husband and sister Marilyn Rolland. She is survived by daughter Shirlee; grandchildren: Kirk and Jacqueline Nance, Amy and Jeff Thompson, all of Papillion; great-grandchildren, Dustin and Emma Nance; Elle Lu, Faith and Lucy Thompson. Luella was awarded in 1968 an honorary State Life Membership in the Nebraska Congress of Parents and Teachers in appreciation of her outstanding service to children and youth.
SERVICE: Thursday 10am Kahler-Dolce Mortuary. Interment: Cedar Dale Cemetery. VISITATION Wednesday 1-8pm at mortuary with family receiving friends 6-8. Memorials to Papillion LaVista Scholarship Fund.
