FATALLY HURT
IN ACCIDENT

Lester Arbuckle Is
Victim of Crash Early
Friday Morning

Lester Arbuckle, 29, of Gladwin, was fatally injured early Friday morning when his car left the road, three-quarters of a mile west of the Oberlin store, on M-18. The only occupant of the automobile at the time of the accident he was found by a county road crew at 7:30 a. m. He had been thrown clear of the vehicle and suffered a fractured skull and possible internal injuries. Exact time and cause of the accident are unknown, according to Sheriff Arthur Kelly. Mr. Arbuckle had taken his father-in-law, Leo Busch, to his home in Sherman township earlier in the evening and then visited his sister, Mrs. Audrey Yoesting at Skeels. Shortly after one o'clock he had left for his home in Gladwin. His wife was not unduly alarmed at his failure to return home, supposing that he had remained all night with relatives at Skeels. Two theories for the cause of the accident, according to Sheriff Kelly, are that he may have lost control of the car or that he may have fallen asleep. The auto was badly damaged from crashing into trees along the roadside and apparently had also rolled end over end. Mr. Arbuckle was employed at Roy Johnson's gas station at the time of his death.
Lester Earl Arbuckle was born on October 12, 1916, in Gladwin county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Arbuckle.
On August 26, 1939 he was married to Miss Lillian Busch, of Gladwin, who survives him with three daughters, Phyllis, Joyce and Margaret. He also leaves his father, Robert Arbuckle, of Skeels; two sisters, Mrs. Edith Whitney, of Breckenridge, Mrs. Audrey Yoesting, of Skeels; two brothers, Ray, of Detroit and Eldon at home; and his grandmother, Mrs. Reitz, of Clio.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, at 2 o'clock at the Hall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lloyd Welton, of the Baptist church, officiating. Burial was made in the Skeels cemetery. Gladwin County Record dated 3-20/1946 Column - 6 Page - 1.
