Jesse Thomas Scruggs, son of Finch and Nancy Scruggs was born 17 Feb 1799 in Buckingham Co VA and died 26 Nov 1882 in Sabine Co TX. These dates were given to Jesse Thomas Scruggs brother Allen Franklin Scruggs by his father Finch T. Scruggs prior to Finch Scruggs death in 1868. Allen Franklin Scruggs kept a diary which he started in 1838 which entered his travels as a minister, his parents, his marriages, his children by all wives and their marriages, and the deaths of all of the above and the locations there of. The volume I own is from a printing of the Original in the form of extraction in 1967. The Census of 1880 shows Jesse Thomas Scruggs still living in Sabine Co TX. In 1850 he had a household of 13 including himself in Sabine Co TX. The DIARY OF ALLEN FRANKLIN SCRUGGS can now be found published in the LDS familysearch.org book search section by entry search for The Diary of Allen Franklin Scruggs 1803-1902 with or without the word DIARY.
