Sean was a wonderful soul and had been our friend for his entire life. He was murdered by his brother and buried in the backyard. The murder trial of his brother is still pending as of 10/2012.
Sean had been our next store neighbor for the first 15 years of his life. I remember him as such a loving child. Sean was my daughter's best friend and he was like my own child. He spent most of his free time at my house. His parents were nice neighbor but kept to themselves somewhat, they seemed to always be busy and Sean somewhat lost. His mother was always working or busy with the church his father, who we liked to call a left over hippy was always doing odd jobs. Sean just found a second home with us and we did not mind. He had a large extended family. Both his parents had been married before & had children from those relationships. Together his parents had Sean and his older brother Stanley "Eli". Eli was always picking on Sean and I think that contributed to him spending so much time with us. Sean loved animals he had a couple of dogs and his cat, Fufu. We had lots of animals, goats, horses, chickens, sheep & Sean was always offering to help out with them. Sean loved his family and all of his cousin's that came to visit often. I had a nickname for Sean it was "stuffing". He loved to eat stuffing, whenever I made any I always made extra for him and he would eat it for days. When Sean found out that the house they rented was going to be sold he was heart broken. He did not want to move at all. They tried to find a place to rent in the area but they could not find one in their budget. His Grandmother lived in Florida and she had a house that she said they could live it if they moved there. So his family decided to move. Sean asked if he could stay with us but his parents loved him & wanted him with them. I remember him coming over crying the day he had to leave it just broke my heart.
We kept in touch with Sean when they moved. He was always dreaming of coming back to California. The year before he had died he got really sick and was in coma for over a month. He had an infection in his brain. When he woke up he had to relearn everything. The summer before he died he came to visit us in California. We talked of him moving back here the next summer. He wanted to return to school and become a physical therapist. He asked me if I could help him get his GED & then the training he would need. We looked up loans & grants that he might be able to get. He called his Mom & told her he wanted to stay instead of coming back to Florida but she told him because of his past medical problems he needed to come back because he would not get medical help in California. Sean went home but said he was still going to move back that next summer. That was never to be, how I wish he never went back. Sean had a strong belief in God and I find peace that he is now at rest.
I have avoided saying much about his brother, I will let the courts & God be his judge.
Update: Sean's brother was sentenced to 50 years on 5/13/2013. This will not bring Sean back but it did bring him justice. I MISS YOU AND LOVE YOU SEAN.
