William Henry Gross Sr. born July 11, 1887 Orient, South Dakota, Hand County. William went to school there for many years while working on the homestead with his parents, Herman Gross and Carrie(David)Gross. He was part of a large family. Five brothers,and six sisters. William married while in South Dakota for a short time and had one child. William Henry Gross who died as a tiny baby. The family moved to Montana where they all worked different jobs. Most of the boys worked for the Great Northern Railroad. William did odd jobs and worked on farms until he became disabled.

He married Clara (Rosenberg) Madison in 1916 Grays Harbor Washington who had two sons already.
William died in 1954 in Seattle Washington.

Preceded in death by one son Stanley Madison 1936, Tacoma Washington.
