Weldon Eugene McClure, 73, of Amarillo, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with Chester O'Brien, of the church, officiating. Cremation and arrangements were by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. McClure was born and raised in Claude. He was a graduate of Claude High School and Texas Tech University where he played varsity basketball.
During the Korean War, he served in the Army training corpsmen and playing basketball for the Army team while stationed in Japan. He returned to Amarillo in 1951 where he started, owned and operated Hallmark Builders from 1953 to 1999.
In 1957, he married Helene Harris in Denver. He was active with the Royal Ambassadors. He was a member of Rotary International in Amarillo for many years.
Survivors include his wife, a son, three daughters, and two brothers.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church; or to Panhandle Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, 2200 W. Seventh Ave., Amarillo, TX 79106.
