Born Aug. 27, 1921, in Taylor, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Alvin and Gertrude Chambers.
She lived most of her life in this area and was a teacher's aide for 14 years at LaCroft School in the special education department and the library. She had graduated in 1939 from East Liverpool High School and was a member of its East Liverpool High School Alumni Association.
A member of the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church, she was a member of the Session, a Sunday school teacher, past president of the Women's Association, co-director of the Upper Ohio Valley Opportunity Camp for seven years, a member of Women's Work of the Presbytery and a past president of Women's Aglow.
She was a surgical hostess at the East Liverpool City Hospital and she served as a member of the hospital's Tri-State Chaplaincy Committee.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Barton Wayne Barnard, preceded her in death on June 1, 1985. Also preceding her were a son, John A. "Art" Barnard, who died June 28, 2010, and a brother, Thomas Chambers.
The Rev. Dr. Vel Vais of Glenmoor Presbyterian Church and the Rev. Norman Eckert of Beechwood Free Methodist are to conduct services at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Burial is to be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.
Memorial tributes may take the form of contributions in care of the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church, 16410 Lisbon Street, East Liverpool.
