Funeral services for Mrs. Lovie Gibbs, age 82, of Sanborn Drive in Nashville were conducted Tuesday afternoon from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home with burial in Ridgewood Cemetery. Bro. Phocian Gibbs and Bro. Robert Hughes officiated at the services.
Mrs. Gibbs died Sunday morning at the Miller Hospital in Nashville following an extended illness.
A Smith County native, she was the widow of the late Mack Gibbs Sr. and the daughter of the late William and Mary Vaden Gillihan. Mrs. Gibbs was a member of the South Carthage Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ruth McMurray of Lebanon; two sons, Benton Mack Gibbs Jr. of Charlotte and Ray H. Gibbs of Nashville; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
