DEATHS AND FUNERALS
Lake City - Funeral services for John Veth, 76, were held Thursday July 5, at 2:30 p.m. at Woodlawn Christian Church in Lake City. Rev. Howard D. Prather officiated. Pallbearers were Frank Alcox, Ed Gregory, Donald Higgins, Cecil Hurd, Jake Janssen, and Vern Mathews. Burial, in charge of Farber & Otteman of Sac City, was in Lake City Cemetery.
John Veth, son of John and Elizabeth Veth, was born in Holland May 19, 1880. He came to the United States in 1901 and lived in various places. Then he came to Boone, Ia., where he met and married Elizabeth Neagle on January 16, 1916.
They farmed in South Dakota for six years, and then came to Lake City in 1924. Mrs. Veth died in 1952, and Mr. Veth died Sunday July 1, at McCrary-Rost Hospital here.
He became a Christian in Holland. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. in Lake City.
He is survived by two stepsons, Thomas Neagle of Nemaha and Frank Neagle of Schaller; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; also two brothers, Henry and Peter Veth, both living in Holland.
