Mary C. Sackett, 85, a lifelong resident of Las Vegas passed away into the arms of our Lord and Savior on Wednesday Jan. 19, 2011. She was born in Loma Parda, N.M. on April 25, 1925 to the late Juan and Romana Montoya.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Juan and Romana Montoya, husband; John Sackett, sisters; Josephine Varela and Nora Stearns; and sister-in-law Frances Montoya.
She is survived by her son, Patrick Sackett and wife Nicole of Las Vegas and their children Vanessa Sackett and fiancé Jeffrey Peres of Albuquerque, N.M., David Ortega of Minneapolis, Minn. and Cecilia Kirkwood and husband Mike of Eagan, Minn., Yvonne and husband Nick Garcia and John Sackett all of Lakewood, Colo. Her daughter Erma Sena and husband Gilbert of Las Vegas and their children Roma Marquez and husband Carlos of Rio Rancho, N.M.; Cassandra Valencia of Rio Rancho, N.M.; Franchesca Salgado and husband Monico of Albuquerque, N.M. Brothers, Leo Montoya of Las Vegas and Ronnie Bennett and wife Leslie of Carefree, Ariz. Great Grandchildren: Ronald, Christian and Jonathon Valencia, Donovan and Isaiah Marquez, Justin and Jacob Salgado, Gabriella Martinez, Kaloni and Sean Peres. Renee and Shaylynn Sanchez, John Paul Garcia. Savannah, Sabrina and Sam Henne. Elijah, Lydia and Vincent Ortega. She is also survived by many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends whom she loved.

Mary retired from the New Mexico Medical Center after 35 years of service where she cared for patients as a psych tech. She loved music, growing vegetables and lovely plants and crocheting blankets for her grandchildren. She brought so much joy to all of our lives and we will forever remember her beautiful smile.

A memorial service will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday Jan. 25 at Victory Life Church, south of Las Vegas. Interment will be held at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, N.M. at 2:30 p.m. Serving as pallbearers are: John Sackett, Billy Stearns, Carlos Marquez, Monico Salgado, Ronald Valencia, Jeffrey Peres, Lupe Torres. Honorary Pallbearers are: Leo Montoya and all her grandchildren.
