King later moved to Chicago where he attended the Academy of Fine Arts and also worked for the Chicago Examiner and the Chicago Tribune also as a cartoonist. Later when King was still worjking for the Tribune he created "Gasoline Alley," his famous comic strip of a family's life. It first appeared in 1919 and through the years right up until the 1960s it grew bigger in fame.
