Wilbur Grove attended local Thurston County schools when thery were available, the "Belmont" school was one of these. As a young man Wilber Grove Ashley opened a Bicycle Shop in Tumwater, Washington next to Hewitt Drug Store. He was also active in the bicycle club and later, the motorcycle club.
In 1904 Wilbur Ashley purchased an automobile.
Wilbur opened a bicycle shop at 313 no. Columbia St., Olympia and later moved his shop to 323 West 4th Street now expanded to include motorcycles and later automobiles.
He married Gertrude Bigley in 1912 and in 1926 began a gasoline business at 1854 E. State Street adjacent ot their home on Turner Street, Olympia. In 1947 he sold the business and moved to 1909 So. Franklin St. where he resided until his death in March of 1950. Gertrude Ashley died December 1954.
