My mother, Mary Ann Kelley, was born in Boston to Walter and Mary (McCann) Doucette. She was one of 7 children and helped raise her brothers and sisters after her father was killed in the line of duty in his position as Correction Officer on Christmas Eve, 1935. Mom, a petite woman, was feisty, outspoken, and also possessed a fine soprano voice. She loved to sing and knew the lyrics to hundreds of songs. She was an excellent equestrienne in her youth, and in later years she enjoyed travel.
My mother was frequently ill throughout her life but was always a fighter-- all her life she overcame obstacles and rallied yet again.
Here's to you, Mom!!
