Andrew immigrated with his family to the USA on the ship Chemnitz from Bremen, reaching Ellis Island on 9 October 1903 when he was five years old. His family settled near friends and relatives in Umatilla County, Oregon.
For most of his life, Andrew worked as a farm laborer and lumber mill worker in Oregon and Idaho.
He was selected for duty in WWII at the age of 44 years and reported for duty on 10 September 1942. US Army 470th Base Headquarters and Air Base Squadron. He was honorably discharged, rank of Private, on 13 April 1943.
Andrew Vogtsberger lived his later years in San Fernando, California. He had of a heart attack in Sisters, Deschutes County, Oregon while visiting family and died in hospital a few days later on 18 September 1958. He was buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Los Angeles, California.
