Vaughn A. Pate was born to Vernice Alta Pate and Bernice Freeman on June 22, 1923 in Camp San Saba, Texas. He died as the results of an automobile wreck East of Colorado City, Texas. His death was the result of a broken neck and other injuries. The date of death on his Death Certificate # 13842, Mitchell County, Texas is different from the date on his tombstone. The informant on the death certificate is Artis Pate.
The 1930 Census of Precinct 6, McCulloch, Texas shows the following:
Vernice A. Pate age 31, Bernice Pate age 23, Vaughn A. Pate age 6, and Wandalene Pate age 0. T626, roll 2372.
Later, born to this family was another son, Larry L. Pate.
Vaughn is buried in Camp San Saba Cemetery, Texas with his his Freeman grandparents, Alice Effie and Charles William.
He was attending school at Southwest Aero. Dallas Institute at the time of his death. He was 18 years and 9 months old when he died.
He was a tall, very good looking young man!
