Frances was the daughter of Nick and Martha Zynda Glatczak. Nick and Martha both immigrated to America with their parents in the mid 1880's They met and married in Michigan and raised a family of 12 children in Bessermer, MI. Frances was their third child. Frances married Peter B. McCay of Indiana. Frances and Peter had two children: Frank and Dollie both born in IL before the family moved back to Indiana.
Frances played the piano at the theater before and during intermission, Frank and Dollie would get to go to the movies with their mother and thought it was such a treat!
Frances took Dollie to kindergarten when Dollie was not quite 5, getting to the school to sign up they found that Dollie could not come till the next yr. Dollie was so upset that Frances took her to the five and dime and purchased school supplies for Dollie and home schooled Dollie that year.
Frances was visiting her mother when word came that her husband was ill. She and her younger sister Josephine (12) left to return to Peter, but before she could get back, she lost control of the car and it rolled into a ditch filled with water. The steering wheel trapped her in the car and she drowned before help could come. Josephine was able to escape without injury.
