Margery Janet Staley
COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Margery Janet Staley, 94, will be held at noon on Saturday, Jan. 22, from the chapel of Cookeville Funeral Home. Interment will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery, with full military honors.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Staley passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 27, 1916, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to the late Austin and Melissa Dischner Kerin.
Mrs. Staley was self-employed as owner and operator of Kay's Ice Cream and was a member of Heavenly Host Lutheran Church. She served as First Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps, 1325th Service Command Unit Station Hospital Indiantown Gap Military Reservation during World War II. She was honorably discharged in April, 1946.
Her family includes a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret (Maggy) and Cliff Sasser; a son, Donald Bixler Staley; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Staley.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Pastor Rodger Pavalo will officiate at the services.
