The death certificate indicates that the cause was unknown but probably in modern terms what we would call a ‘cot death' or perhaps some weakness from birth which was destined to be fatal.

History - Jesse arrived in Utah with his parents-in-law, a brother-in-law named William Luck, a wife named Elizabeth Luck, and his son named Joseph Hartup.
Jesse arrived in Sydney in 1858 on the ship "Juanita" which had sailed from San Francisco. The reason for coming to Sydney first was possibly that his brother Robert had emigrated there some time earlier. Whether they did meet up is unknown – if they did, Robert's descendants didn't appear to be aware of it. Jesse then traveled south to Geelong, Victoria and married Frances Stringer.
