Milo, OK — Sanford Brown was born March 23, 1930, in the Milo Community to Jesse and Elsie (McGee) Brown. He was the seventh of 12 children born to this union.

Due to a fire in his home, early Thursday morning, January 13, 2011, he departed this mortal life. He was 80 years, 9 months, and 21 days old.

He grew up in the Milo Community, and later made his home in California before retiring and returning to his roots.

For years he was employed as a hotel bell hop and later retired as a general contractor. He was of the Christian faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Maudie Nichols, Mandy Shannon, Lester Brown, John Henry Brown, and Otto Brown, a son, David Lee Brown; and a grandson, Lester Charles "Little Charlie" Brown.

He leaves to forever cherish precious memories, five sons, Jimmy Ray Brown (Alice), Lester Charles Brown, Sanford Brown Jr., (Cheryl), all of Ardmore, Terrence Ray Martinez, Santa Ana, Calif., and Steven Rollings, Oshwa, Calif.; stepson, Jaden Miles of Ardmore; and four daughters, Sandra Louise Stevenson (Winfred), Houston, Janice Elaine Campbell, Barbara Jean Brown, both of Santa Ana, Calif., and Yakima Brown of New York.

He was blessed with 25 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Emma Cyrus, Oklahoma City, Ruby Brown (Emmett), Oklahoma City, Hester Abram, Kansas City, and Sallie Futrul (Lonnie), Oklahoma City; two brothers, Jesse "Pencil" Brown Jr., Oklahoma City, and J.C. Brown, Kansas City; numerous other relatives; and a host of friends.

A Celebration of his earthly life will be held at Jehovah Baptist Church in Milo on Saturday, January 22, 2010 at 11 a.m. The interment will follow at Jehovah Cemetery. Bro. Ricky McGee will officiate.
