Chico Enterprise-Record, Thursday, Apr 9, 1981: "Marjorie Compton. A memorial service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Hall-Van Hook Funeral Chapel for Marjorie Frances Compton, 77, of Chico, who died Tuesday in a Chico rest home.

"She was born Oct 20, 1903, in Chico to Archie and Nora Locey. She was reared and educated in Chico, Oroville, and Paradise. On Dec. 23, 1925, she married Herbert Compton in San Jose. They lived in the Durham and Clear Creek areas, where they were ranchers. He died in 1955.

"Survivors include a daughter, Janis Campbell of Chico; three sons, Gerald of Richvale, David of Durham and Donald of Ephrata, Wash.; two brothers, Alexander Locuey [sic] and Dorrance Locey, both of Chico; three sisters, Natalie Smith of San Jose, Eleanor Ray of Durham, and Connie Reynolds of Chico; 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Another son, Harlan Compton, died previously.

"The Rev. David McMartin of the Richvale Evangelical Free Church will preside at the funeral. "In the Garden" and "The Lord's Prayer" will be sung, accompanied by the organ. Casketbearers will include Craig Compton, Scott Compton, Bradley Compton, Mark Compton, Steve Koch and Jim Siemens.

"A private family graveside funeral will take place in the Chico Cemetery prior to the memorial. Contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church or the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home."
