Virginia H. Foress, 86, of Gwinn, died Wednesday evening at the Mather Nursing Center in Ishpeming. She was born October 18, 1924, in Detroit, Michigan, a daughter of the late Jack and Hulda (Maki) Erickson. Virginia was a member of Gwinn United Methodist Church, the church ladies group and the Martha Stewart Circle. She was also a member of the Gwinn VFW Auxiliary, R.S.V.P. and Gwinn Senior Citizens. She was deeply committed to her family and loved caring for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Virginia is survived by her children, Joan (Ron) Blank of Maple Park, IL and Jack (Carol) Foress of Gwinn; grandchildren, Jeff (Gina) Blank, Beth Blank, Josh (Heather) Blank, Ronette (David) Icso, John (Tracy) Foress, Jr., Daniel Foress (Connie); 13 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; siblings, Floyd Erickson of Lansing, MI, Paul (Geraldine) Erickson of Gwinn, Patty (Bill) Stine of Gwinn, Joan Gardipee of Gwinn, Diana (Vernon) Norman of Rock, Gary (Kay) Erickson of Gwinn, Dennis (Sandra) Erickson of Bremerton, WA and John (Julie) Erickson of Gwinn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Foress in 2004 and brothers, Roger & Charles Erickson. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2001 at 3 p.m. at Gwinn United Methodist Church with Rev. Geri Hamlen officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will be in the Gwinn Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Gwinn United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. The Canale-Gwinn Funeral Home is assisting the family.
