Thelmer Howard Griffith, 96, a of Stuart, died Nov. 15, 2004, at R.J. Reynolds-Patrick Memorial Hospital in Stuart. He was born in Patrick County on June 26, 1908, to James Griffith and Ella Bernett Griffith. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Adeleen Baliles Griffith.
He served in the Navy during World War II and he was a charter member of Fairystone Baptist Church.
Surviving are a foster son, Stuart Baliles; three grandchildren; a brother, Clifford Griffith; a sister, Orea Rakes.
The funeral will be held at Fairystone Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
