Ernest A. Baca, 71, of Challenge died Aug. 1, 2000, at his residence. Born in Center, Colo., he was a Yuba-Sutter resident since 1988.
He served in the Army Corps of Engineers in Alaska and later worked for International Harvester in San Leandro.
Survivors include two sons, Ernie Ray Baca of Challenge and Paul Baca of Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Ernestine Baca of Denver and Joann Lowther of Claremore, Okla.; two brothers, Ray Baca and William Baca, both of Colorado; three sisters, Flora Curtis and Bertie Brown, both of California, and Elva Rogic of Colorado; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Baca.
Services: A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Lutheran Church of Joy in Brownsville, with the Rev. Glenn Zogg officiating. A reception will follow at the church hall. Arrangements are under the direction of Holycross Memorial Services.
