The daughter of Shreveport druggist, Leon Marks Carter; wife of KWKH founder, owner of Henderson Iron Works, William Kennon Henderson, Jr. They married in 1908. In 1910, the US Census listed them living with Josie's widowed mother, Mattie L. Parsons Carter on Crockett Street. By 1920, the Hendersons were still on Crockett with Mattie living with them, but their sons Kennon (born about 1910 and Carter (born about 1912) had joined the family. William Carter Henderson would become a media pioneer also, establishing television station, KSLA, in Shreveport.
Josie entered the political arena in the late 1930's as a delegate in the Republican National Convention. The Hendersons had two sons, Kennon and William Carter Henderson.
Josie would pass away one month after W.K. died in 1945.
