Ivan Fredrick Harding, 82, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010.

Ivan was born Dec. 9, 1927, in a Preston, Idaho, country home built by his father. He was the son of Albert Frederick Harding and Bertha May Corbridge Harding.

Ivan moved to Idaho Falls when he was 2 years old. He attended Riverside Elementary School and then O.E. Bell Junior High School until ninth grade. After working as a parts-man and then automotive machinist, he entered the U.S. Army and trained in Morse code as a radio operator during World War II.

Ivan married Eunice LaRee Burtenshaw on June 3, 1948, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They had been married 58 years when Eunice passed away Dec. 6, 2006. They raised their family in Idaho Falls, while Ivan worked for Mendenhall NAPA Auto Parts for 27 years and Radford-Hatch NAPA Auto Parts. He then ran his own machine shop until his retirement, passing his skills to his son, Blair, and sons-in-law, Steve and Keith.

Ivan was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings, including High Priest Group leadership, Sunday School president and teacher, faithful home teacher and temple worker. He and Eunice served an LDS mission to Adam-Ondi-Ahman, Mo. Eunice passed away Dec. 6, 2006.

Ivan loved camping and boating with his family, fly-fishing and hunting. Joking around the campfire until late at night was a favorite. He did woodworking and created many gifts for family and friends. Although always living simply, he left a large legacy of love, devotion, and faith.

He is survived by his son, Blair (Carolyn) Harding; and two daughters, Annette (Steven) Saville and Shauna (Keith) McGary, all of Idaho Falls; grandchildren, Grant Harding, Keena Harding Lill, Tamboree Harding Richey, Sareena Saville Gillespie and Laisa McGary; step-grandsons, Matthew and Jacob Williams; great-grandchildren, Krahe and Kaeden Harding, Cole and Branson Lill, and Ryan and Dustin Richey.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice; his parents; his sisters, Ila, Freida, Lillie and Gwen; a brother, Warren; and step-grandson, Daniel Williams.
