Dr. Elijah A. Morgan, for many years a prominent physician In Decatur and Macon county, died about 6:30 o'clock Thursday morning at the Masonic hospital In Sullivan. Dr. Morgan was sixty-four years old in October. His death was due to a complication of diseases, his illness extending over a period of fourteen years. Dr. E. A. Morgan was born in Niantic township, Macon county, Oct. 10, 1854. He graduated in medicine from Bellevue hospital Medical college, now New York university, In 1883. Returning to Macon county he practised medicine at Maroa for twelve years, coming to Decatur in 1897. Here he continued to practice his profession until ill health forced him to retire fourteen years ago. Dr. Morgan was prominent in the
Methodist church and for a number of years was a member of the official board. He was also a member of Ionic lodge No. 312, A. F. and A. M., Macon chapter No. 21, R. A. M.,
Beaumanoir cummandery No. 9, Knights Templars, and Medinah temple, Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, of Chicago. He also held membership in Coeur de Leon, lodge No. 17, Knights of Pythias, of Decatur. Dr. Morgan is survived by his wife
and two daughters, Mrs. Morton Taylor of Chicago and Mrs. Jay M. Allen of Decatur. Elmer Brintlinger went to Sullivan Thursday noon and will bring the body to Decatur.
The funeral will be held some time Saturday at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Jay M. Allen, 100 North
Pine street. The time has not yet been decided upon. The interment will be in Fairlawn cemetery.
