An only child, Maria Giuseppa "Beppa" Di Nunzio, was born to Fortunato De Nunzio (born around 1821; married at Pietrelcina on April 28, 1853, to Maria Giovanna Gagliardi; died at Pietrelcina on August 22, 1892 aged 75), and his wife Maria Giovanna Gagliardi (born in 1831; died in Pietrelcina on October 8, 1908, aged 77).
Maria Giuseppa was born on March 28, 1859, and died on January 3, 1929, aged 70. She married Grazio "Orazio" Forgione (born in Pietrelcina, Benevento, Italy, on October 22, 1860), Pietrelcina on June 8, 1881, and mothered Michele, Francesco, Felicita, Pellegrina, Grazia, and two other children Francesco and Amalia, who died in infancy.
Michele married Giuseppa Cardone (1884 - 1946), and died at San Giovanni Rotondo on May 9, 1967, aged 85. Michele and Giuseppa had 8 children, all of whom died at birth on early in infancy, except Francesco Forgione (who was born in Pietrelcina on March 18, 1909, and died at Pietrelcina on November 9, 1920, of meningitis, at age 11), and Pia Forgione (born in Pietrelcina on January 6, 1924, married at San Giovanni Rotondo in 1945, to Mario Pennelli, parents of eight children).
Francesco Forgione - Saint Padre Pio of Pietrelcina - born in Pietrelcina, Benevento, Italy, on May 25, 1887; died at San Giovanni Rotondo, Foggia, Italy, on September 23, 1968, at age 81; canonized by Pope John Paul II on June 16, 2002.
Felicita Forgione - born in Pietrelcina on September 15, 1889; married on October 20, 1910, to Vincenzo Masone (1886 - 1941); died in Pietrelcina on September 25, 1918, of Spanish flu, complicated by a miscarriage at age 29. Felicita and Vincenzo had the following children: Giuseppa Masone (who was born at Pietrelcina on February 4, 1912, died at Arco di Trento December 18, 1930, of tuberculosis aged 18); Pellegrino Masone (born in Pietrelcina on July 25, 1914, died in Pietrelcina September 22, 1918, of the Spanish flu, aged 4); Ettore Masone (born in Pietrelcina on December 1, 1916; married Mariuccia Ghislieri at Loreto 1961; had one son, Pio Masone, born 1963; died at Benevento around 1978, aged 62).
Pellegrina Forgione - born in Pietrelcina on March 15, 1892; married July 26, 1913, to Antonino Masone; died at Chieti February 19, 1944, of injuries received in a World War II bombing raid, aged nearly 52. Pellegrina Forgione and Antonino had one child: Maria Giuseppa (died at age 3-1/2 on March 2, 1917); Alfredo (who died in the influenza epidemic at age 14 months October 12, 1918) was allegedly illegitimate.
Grazia Forgione (Sister Pia of Our Lady of Sorrows) - born in Pietrelcina on December 26, 1894, who died in Rome after a lengthy illness on April 30, 1969, aged 74.
