Jesse was a volunteer in World War I and was a rural mail carrier. Mabel was a member of Estabrook Chapter DAR, a descendant of William Stewart of SC. A member of the American Legion Auxiliary, serving as local president, secretary, treasurer and in other offices. A past matron of Russellville Eastern Star, she served as a page at Grand Chapter one year. She is a member of Bainbridge Saddle Club and serves as historian of the IN Covered Bridge Society.
