Betty Hennessee Morton, 78, 324 W. Thomas St., died Thursday (May 12, 2005) at Beacon Place Hospice, Greensboro.
Born Aug. 29, 1926, in Salisbury, Mrs. Morton was a daughter of the late Elizabeth Heileg and William Hennessee. She graduated from Rowan County Schools and attended Salem College in Winston-Salem.
She retired from Zimmerman's Clothing Store as a sales associate.
A member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, she volunteered with Meals On Wheels and assisted with income tax preparation at Rufty-Holmes Senior Center.
Survivors include husband Jim Morton; son Michael James Morton, Greensboro; daughters Beth Clark, Florence, S.C., Ann Adams, Charlotte, and Nancy Wade, High Point; and four grandchildren.
Services: 10 a.m. Monday, St. Luke's Episcopal Church, conducted by the Rev. Sarah D. Hollar. The body will be cremated and placed in church columbarium.
Visitation: Following the service in the St. Agnes Room.
