Born in New Bethlehem, Pennslyvainia, he played under the name of Ossee Schreck and was a catcher making his debut for the Louisville Colonels on September 8, 1897. For eleven seasons, he played with the Louisville Colonels in 1897, Cleveland Spiders (1898-99), Boston Americans in 1901, Philadelphia Athletics (1902-07) and Chicago White Sox in 1908. He ended his career with 829 hits, 304 runs scored, 9 homeruns, 338 runs batted in and a .271 batting average. He died of uremia at age 39 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
