| Birth: | May 7, 1846 Pulaski Giles County Tennessee, USA | | Death: | Apr. 7, 1911 Prescott Yavapai County Arizona, USA |  US Congressman. He served as a Colonel in the Confederate Army as a member of Company B, First Battalion, Volunteer Infantry. He was admitted to the bar in 1866 and practiced law in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He served as a member of the Arkansas State house of representatives in 1877 and 1878. He moved to Prescott, Arizona in 1887 and continued to practice law. Becoming active in politics, he was a member of the Arizona constitutional convention in 1891; delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1896; attorney general in 1896 and 1897. He was elected as a Democrat to represent Arizona in the Fifty-sixth Congress in 1899 and the Fifty-eighth Congress in 1903. He chose not to run in 1900 and 1904. (bio by: Tom Todd)
