Jewel Estelle Jones passed away Friday, Nov. 3, 2006, in Huntsville at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.

Born on Feb. 7, 1908, in Delta County, the daughter of W.R. Mills and Dorcas Malinda Hooks Mills, she was the last survivor of 11 children. Estelle, known to her family as "MeMaw," was the mother of eight children.

She was a good homemaker and very talented in handwork. Many beautiful crocheted bedspreads, tablecloths, doilies, afghans and other items grace the homes of her children. She was also a master at tatting.
Estelle retired from Walgreens in Houston, where she lived for many years while raising her family. She was also a member of the Joseph Collins Rebecca Lodge No. 7 in Houston. Her last years were spent in Bedias and Huntsville, residing with her daughter and son-in-law, Imogene and Charles Landers.
MeMaw is preceded in death by her sons, James Manuel Jones and William Drexel Jones and one daughter, Hilda Mae Sullivan.
Left to cherish her memory are sons and daughters-in-law, Marshall and Beverly Jones of Pasadena, Robert and Penny Jones of Manteca, Calif.; daughters and sons-in-law, Imogene and Charles Landers of Huntsville, Wilda and Arnoldo Rodriguez of Spring, and Mary and Albert Bothwell of Wells.
Many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren also survive. MeMaw will be very missed by all her large family. Funeral services for Mrs. Jones will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, at Huntsville Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerald Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Bedias Baptist Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Ben Mabry, Maurice Mauer Jr., Jim Bothwell, Steve Jones, Albert Bothwell and Arnoldo Rodriguez. Memorial contributions may be made to the University heights Baptist Church Building Fund.
Services are under the direction of Huntsville Funeral Home Bedias Baptist Cemetery Bedias Grimes County Texas, USA
