My great grandfather, William Thomas Baker, originally from Louisville, Kentucky, traveled to Oregon, settling in Albany, where he met and married Nellie Olivia(Burkhart)Royce, a young widow, on July 21, 1891, in Albany, Linn County, Oregon. They had one daughter, Pearl Laura Baker, b.Mar 2, 1895. William was a carriage maker by trade. He died of "consumption" (TB) on March 14, 1900, leaving his wife, again, a widow. At his family's behest, his remains were returned to Louisville, Kentucky where he is buried at Cave Hill Cemetery with his other family members. His little girl had just turned 5 years old when they came and took her daddy's remains by train back to Kentucky. I am one of her granddaughters and she never spoke of him or the loss of her father in all of the 24 years I knew her.

Rest In Peace, sir. I hope to meet you some day, when I'm reunited with my mom and grandparents. Until then, I hope they aren't saying too many bad things about me. God Bless. With respect from one of your great granddaughters,|
