Clarence Hinchman was a son of Ulysses Grant Hinchman and Eva M. Huston Hinchman. His siblings were Allen Berle Hinchman and Mary Athalia Hinchman. On April 17, 1913 Clarence married Nellie Lee Shortridge, daughter of Santford Shortridge and Ida E. Dora Shortridge.
"... Dr. Clarence Paul Hinchman, now a practicing physician at Geneva, Indiana, was graduated from the Connersville high school in 1910, having had his earlier schooling in the Fairview schools. In the fall of that year he entered Indiana University, from which he received the degree of Bachelor of Science in 1914, and from the School of Medicine, of which institution he was graduated in 1916, following which he was given a year of hospital work as an intern in the City Hospital at Indianapolis. He then passed the examination of the state board of medical examiners and was licensed to practice medicine, having passed with a grade of nine hundred and forty-nine points out of a possible one thousand points, the highest record made for many years. Doctor Hinchman is a member of the Delta Upsilon and Phi Chi fraternities, and takes a warm interest in the affairs of these organizations. On April 17, 1913, he married Nellie Lee Shortridge, daughter of Sanford and Ida (Dora) Shortridge, and to this union twin sons were born, one of whom died in infancy, the surviving child being Wayne Deryl. ...". "Dr. Clarence Hinchman Dies; Rites Are Held Today At Geneva, Ind. Rites were held today at Geneva, Ind., for Dr. Clarence Hinchman, 68, a native of Fairview Township, who died late Friday night in Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie. His parents were the late U. G. and Eva Huston Hinchman. Dr. Hinchman, a Connersville High School graduate, was graduated from the Indiana Medical School in 1915. He was a member of the American and Indiana Medical Association, the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Shrine. He leaves his wife, formerly Nellie Shortridge; two sons, Dr. Jean Hinchman of Parker, Ind., and Wayne of Winchester; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including Keith Kehl of Fairview Township. A brother, Beryl, and a sister preceded him in death. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery at Geneva." Connersville News Examiner 4-25-1960 p. 2.
