Erie Street Cemetery 2291 E. 9th St - Cleveland's oldest existing cemetery. In 1825, Cleveland Village bought the land for one dollar from Leonard Case, Sr. Many of those buried here were Cleveland's original settlers. Records at Highland Park Cemetery (216) 348-7210 and the Western Reserve Historical Society (216) 721-5722. This cemetery is about 5 or 6 blocks from Superior and 9th where Philo's home was located at 301 Superior.

I'm not sure why Philo and Emily chose to bury Charles and John at Erie Street Cemetery, since most of the family is interred at Woodland Cemetery. There is a headstone for Charles at Woodland but not for John who is still at Erie Street. Don't know whether Philo had the body moved or just paid for a headstone for Charles and why didn't Philo move John who was stillborn. Charles and John Chamberlin's headstones are located at Sec. 12, Lot 2, grave 1 at Erie Street Cemetery. I put in a request for photos of the headstones.
