BENEFIELD, MR. ELLIS LEON "JACK", age 87 of Adamsville, passed away on Sunday August 10, 2008 at a local hospital with family and friends at his side.
Mr. Benefield retired from Dupont Services, was a member of Crumly Chapel UMC and Cunningham Masonic Lodge in Graysville.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis Franklin and Odessa Huggins Benefield; wife, Pauline Miles Benefield; brother, George; and sister, Aleen Benefield; sons, Jackie and Frankie; and a granddaughter, Jackie R. Benefield. He is survived by daughters-in-law, Bernice and Susan Benefield; sisters, Lucille (Curtis) Yarbrough, Alberta Staton, brother Sterling (Louise) Benefield; 10 Grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Special Friends Irene Love, the "Breakfast Club" at Jack's and the Senior Citizens Graysville Nutrition Center.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12, at Crumly Chapel United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 10:00 until 11:00 on Tuesday. Rev. Lynn Dimon will be the officiating minister. Mr. Benefields grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
